Find the tutorial that gives how to turn on the built-in administrator account. I'm not home, not on computer long enough to hunt for it.

Built-in Administrator Account - Enable or Disable in Windows 8

Once inside the admin acct, maybe create an admin acct for your use, keeping the standard acct as is. Then, as needed, you can switch between your admin-level acct and std acct.

Ultimate Windows Tweaker 2 or 3 probably will. However, if activated, create an admin acct for you [with your password], then use both admin and standard accts as you wish. And, you won't have to use the built-in admin acct again.

You might be able to do a "blue-disk" or OEM disk System Repair. I don't know if that will free up the built-in administrator acct. I believe something was attempted in your Windows that "blew away" access to the admin acct. Can you remember anything a program or somebody else might have done that could tell us what happened to the accessing of the built-in admin acct?

Brink, I gave OP my best shot -- Ulimate Windows Tweaker 2 or 3 will, unless that Windows has been imploded on itself, enable and open access to the built-in administrator account. Unless this is tried, well, I guess it's time for the big one - reinstall of Windows, then reinstall of programs and utilities.
