Windows 8.1 Pro PIN login not applying...

    Hi,

I have a Dell Venue tablet running Windows 8.1 Pro (32-Bit) and have been having a bit of an issue getting PIN login to work since refreshing the tablet recently. I can access the settings and set a PIN for login, but when I unlock the screen it only allows a password to be put in. Has anyone experienced similar or have any idea how to fix? It's not a major issue, but slightly irritating!

    Thanks all

Hello bug1baby, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Did you have a Sign in options link like below to click on to select to use a PIN?

User Account - Create a PIN in Windows 8

    Signing in to Windows 8

    Hi,

Thanks for posting! There isn't the sign in options unfortunately. It's quite odd, worked as normal before the refresh and now it won't apply the PIN.

    Thanks

Does this only happen when you try to unlock the PC?

Does it let you use the PIN to sign in after a restart or sign out?

In that case, remove the PIN, change your password, add a PIN, and see if it lets you sign in with a PIN afterwards.

If not, switch your account to the opposite of what it is now (Microsoft or Local account), then back to see if it'll work afterwards.

Microsoft Account - Switch to in Windows 8

Local Account - Switch to in Windows 8

Thanks Brink. Tried both but still no luck. Tried using a Pin on local too, but that didn't work either

Might consider to reset Windows instead.
