how do I wipe clear/de-register my account from a laptop

I ordered a touchscreen 8.1 laptop and I got a non-touchscreen which I am returning. The laptop has now got my wi fi connection, my Microsoft account and my pictures on the lock-in screen and start screen and has my email addresses. How do I de-register myself do I need to do a refresh\factory restore?

I run into something similar when my customers give me their old PC's. They want all their personal information removed.

Usually there is no restore disk, and no way to really restore the drivers, even if I did an OS reinstall.

So I just go into "Users" and create a new user with Admin Privileges, then reboot to that user and go back in to Users and remove the original user. That pretty much wipes out anything personal to the old user.
The OS and the drivers are not affected. *

Then I can do an extensive Cleaning on the HD, removing all temp files and software installed by the original owner.

    * on an older PC, finding drivers can be almost impossible.

    Cheers Mates!

For a totally wiped out computer you could use CCleaner Drive Wiper.
