Login problems after upgrading new laptop to 8.1

I recently bought an Acer S7 laptop that came with Windows 8. I went through the setup, and (I believe) created a local account/login. I did not use my Live account login, except for some of the apps (mail, photos etc). After about a week , I upgraded to 8.1 through the store download yesterday. Today, I turn on my laptop and go to login, but it tells me the login is incorrect. So I try logging in using my Live account (which I didn't really want to do).

Once I'm logged in, Windows is notifying me that I need to change my password because it thinks someone else is trying to use my Live account, which is not the case. My question...did my previous local account get wiped when I upgraded? How do I "unassociate" my Live account with this laptop, and do I have to re-create that previous local account and all the settings?

    Thanks for any help!

    ...and you know this because???

It might be the case and somehow your local account password was even changed, which is why your login might be incorrect.

I know this because I'm the one that's been trying to setup my account on the laptop. Upgrading to 8.1 apparently did something to my previous login, to where it didn't recognize the login credentials. So back to my question, is there a way to unassociate the Live account that I logged into, and start over with a local user account? No one else has had access to my laptop.

lol, because I live by myself, and no one else has had access to this computer.

I did find another thread about this, but my "User Accounts" window is missing the "Change to a local account" link in the final step...
How do you remove your windows live account from Win 8 once added?

You're welcome. Maybe someone else has a suggestion or two in addition to what's already been covered. I don't deal with Windows 8 stuff like that, with login accounts and new Start screen nonsense...just the underlying system problems inherent to all Windows like bsods etc...the major system issues...I don't run 8 myself, at all.
