    log in password

Hello, losing the will to live with windows 8.
I have windows 8.1 pro on my desktop and windows 8.1 on my laptop, after trying to sort out various skydrive bugs, giving up and installing Google drive I changed my microsoft master password and whenever I start the laptop it says 'wrong password' and I have to enter the new password each time (it's a trusted device)
When I log into my account from ie it gives me some garbled bugginess saying unable to log you in please sign out???
when I go to computer setting to change password it says service not available please try later?
I cant access, and have never been able to, anything from the skydrive app on either pc, but using skydrive. com works fine.
I'm guessing my account is corrupted as both installs are less than a month old.
How do I change the password stored on my laptop? I can live with third party apps for everything else that is critically broken.
    cheers

    Hello wrog,

If you had Windows set to automatically sign in to your account at startup, then that's the issue. It's still trying to sign in with your old password, giving you the "wrong password" error.

You can do step 4 in the tutorial below again to setup automatic sign in with the new password to stop this.

Log On User Account Automatically at Windows 8 Startup

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

well, got fed up and clean re installed both pc's, then re installed my software. Then a please activate windows pop up appears.
It appears with my key I have to install windows 8 then upgrade from the store.
Put the car purchase on hold and ordered a pair of Mac's.

I have used every windows since XP and I really cannot believe what a complete and utter shambles Microsoft has become. I can free upgrade to 8.1 with no recovery options whatsoever!

    good job

Here you go, if you have a 8.1 ISO.

Activate retail Windows 8.1 with Windows 8 Product key.

Ah, that's why then. When you use Add Features, the 8.1 Pro key would update it from 8.1.

    Add Features to Windows 8

It all depends on the product key and if it's for what is currently installed or not, but I'm not sure how it did with a W7 key though.
