I'm confused about some account/folder names

When I first set up my Windows 8 computer, I used my name for my Microsoft account, but I see my name in multiple places which sometimes causes confusion when I'm looking for something.
Can someone explain what these three folders are, and where they came from (with the exception of my personal folder which I created)?

Hi, I am having the exact same problem as you have. I am thinking of resetting my Tablet to factory condition since its new and has no content yet and start all over again. However I would hate to do this if I end up in the same situation again.

Hello Jeff and Sportflyer,

This is normal, and nothing is wrong.

Those are just the different locations to access your "C:\Users\(user-name)" folder from in the navigation pane.

If you like, you could uncheck the "Show all folders" option to have a different navigation pane view.

Hope this helps, :)

Yes . Thanks very much .Now I dont have to reset my Tablet :) .
I wish it was simpler like in Win7 . I am learning where to find folders , options , etc that I can easily locate in Win7 . Maybe I should add back the Start menu from a 3rd party application for simpler navigation .

Actually, the navigation pane in File Explorer is pretty much the same in Windows 7.

It does take a bit to get used to the different modern UI in Windows 8, but is nice once you do. :)

Thanks sportflyer. I unchecked everything except "Automatically expand to current folder", and it looks cleaner. It's interesting that in the Users folder, it dropped my last name. I guess the Users folder takes the place of the Documents And Settings folder in XP, but on my XP machines, my folder is called "Owner". I must have entered "Owner" as my account name on my laptop, following the lead of the guy that had previously set up my XP desktop. Maybe I should change my account name on this Windows 8 computer to "owner" also, so that only the folder right under C:\ has my name. On the other hand, at this point, I don't know how many references have already been established to the path c:\users\jeff  It's probably not worth the trouble.

Its similar but some of the actions are moved inside various tabs. I just need to find them .

However I am sure glad I don't have to reset the Tablet , redo everything and end up with the same !

If you are using a Microsoft account, then the "C:\Users\(user-name)" folder in Windows 8 would be named whatever you had entered for your first name for your Microsoft account Profile page at the time when the account was setup in Windows 8.

Since the XP was a laptop, "Owner" may have been a default name the OEM gave the user account.
