Solved Regrettably upgraded to 8.1, now I have a MS account?

Hi,
Just got a new computer 3 weeks ago and was adjusting quite well to Windows 8. The only thing that bugged me was the Charms bar always popping up. I read that to deactivate it you had to upgrade to 8.1. So I did the upgrade. I was cleaning the house during the process so I wasn't really paying attention to what I was doing. I remember entering my email address and selecting the option to have my security code emailed, which I now have, but I don't know what I'm supposed to do with it?

Now my computer has an account name (home group) that I once used to get a Microsoft account a few years ago. I don't remember entering this name and don't want to keep it. I found where you can go in and change it; however, you have to sign in and it says "identify yourself across a broad range of Microsoft products and services." This makes me uncomfortable. I don't want a social networking account. I don't plan to use the Cloud either. It's just for home use. Also there's a password now every time I log in or get timed out.

I don't like these changes and wish I hadn't upgraded. Can I go back to 8 or fix this so I don't have a Microsoft identity?

Thank you. I got as far as PC settings, but I don't see an option to switch to a local account. It says I need to verify my identity. Can I just log in online and cancel my account first? Sorry, this is really confusing to me.

Never mind, figured it out. I had to click "disconnect" first. Microsoft account all gone! Thanks so much!
