Solved windows 8.1 log in

I have just upgraded to 8.1 and my user insists on my microsoft password before it lets me log in; the other three users do not have this problem. How do I remove this annoying factor from my log in. I want to go straight to the user log in screen without this annoying bit.

Are the other 3 users a "local account" without passwords by chance?

If so, then that's why since they do not have a password. A Microsoft account requires a password, and cannot be removed.

If you like, you have a couple of options, but there are drawbacks to them that I wouldn't recommend to do because of.

1) Switch your Microsoft account to be a local account, and remove your password. The drawback is that local accounts are not able to use any modern app that uses a Microsoft service, including the Windows Store.

2) You could set Windows to automatically sign in to your Microsoft account at startup. The drawback is that anyone that boots or restarts the computer will be in your account.

I tried creatingt a new account, it worked but from scratch, and all my files in my old setup where not there, so thats out by the looks of it. Local Account - it wont let me change, no option. The option is there when creating a new account. The others are local accounts. I probably missed the option, which MS give on setup but small. I may well have to create a new account.

I decided to leave the password account alone, but still in the machine. I created a local account and, after a bit of tweaking and copying of files across via files explorer its now up and running. On a family pc I see no need for a passworded account. But I will look at your solution shortly, still checking things this end. But that says local passworded account, mine was an admin passworded account???

By default, new accounts will be a "standard" type. You might double check to make sure that it's an "administrator" type if that's what you were wanting it to be.

I have activated parental control in their account. I bought spy hunter which cleaned them all out, but also had to delete all cookies and stuff from browsers (IE11 and FF) to try and ensure they did not re occur. Damn, just remembers my daughters chrome needs cleaning too - AGH!

Yesterday I found that windows had created yet another account for me, passworded, and all because I tried, unsuccessfully, to install Skype. So I was getting a bit frustrated with all this and began deleting anything I could find to do with hotmail email accounts and live.co.uk email accounts. I dont really use them anyway. By accident I got a screen that asked me if I would like to change my @live.co.uk account, which I didnt ask for, to a local account, oh YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! The earth shook and I got rid of it (password)!!! Then I deleted it and my 'old account on local is now working fine again!!

If I ever find out how, I'll post it for you all.

Sounds like it may have been from using either option below.
