I have unchecked the box about needing password and it works when I boot up win 8.1 but if I log out and then log back in, it requires me to enter a password.
I originally had no password but discovered that I couldn't install any metro apps without a Microsoft account. If there was a way around that then I would happily not use a Microsoft account. Is there a way?
PS: Thanks Brink for the clarification on login/logout. Although it still doesn't make much sense to allow you to boot up without a password but to require one if you logout then login.
Edit: I found your tutorial on switching to a local account and that seems to give me what I want. Thanks Brink for all your support here.
If you wanted to continue to use a Microsoft account to be able to use all apps and such that require it, then I suppose that you could either lock the PC, screen saver, or put it to sleep/hibernate when not using it to have an option to not have to enter a password when resuming instead of actually signing out.
