    Win 8.1 login email acc.

I deleted my Microsoft account .... not a good idea I now know.
I don't know how to recover it. I've tried several ways but all fails.

When I boot up my PC it has this email / MS account in my Account. There is a disconnect beneath it but I'm not game to try it in case I lose my PC account with all my worldly goods on it.

I have a new MS account and what I'd like to do is have this account on my PC. Can someone help how I do this without messing anything more.

    cheers

    Hello trueblue,

If you like, you have a couple of options that you could do.

While signed in an administrator account, you could follow the steps in the tutorial below to add your new Microsoft account to have it available to sign in to afterwards.
    OR

You could switch your current local account to a Microsoft account using the new one.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I will give you options a try and see if it works for me.

I'm a little scared to click Disconnect under the old email address.

No worries. The "Disconnect" option is to switch the account to be a local account instead of Microsoft account.

Thank you Brink for your reply.

Lol, I've still not done it yet.....I'm a scaredy cat!

I tried to login with the new local account and I get a popup saying it cannot veryify my profile. I even created a new microsoft account for the new account.

If I go to the local account, which is newly made. Will I lose everything that I have in my folders etc. in the admin account.... I mean will the account me totally different to the local account. I need everything as it is in my current admin acc.
I have also made the new account name as an administrator also.

You might see if you may be able to verify your PC (device) and new Microsoft account using one of the options in the tutorial below.
If you switch the old account to a local account, you will not lose anything, but you will also no longer be able to use any Store apps that use a Microsoft service.

Oh dear, when I get to the Microsoft account I'm prompted to insert a code. I received a code via email but when I add it then submit I'm told 'That code didn't work. Check the code and try again'. I copy and ctrl v - that doesn't work. I type in the numbers, that doesn't work. I'm rather lost now!

Be sure that you have cookies enabled and use Internet Explorer. Try typing the code instead. If it still doesn't work, then start over to get a new code.
