Does Windows 8.1 Upgrade Force Use of a Password?

When I did a clean install of Windows 8, I simply left the password field blank. The computer is a single user and in Windows 8 mode it starts up automatically with no sign in or password required. Same when it wakes from a monitor shutdown. No sign in or password needed.

Will that remain the same when I upgrade to 8.1? Is there any way to force it to be that way?

    Hello Ron,

Yes, as long as don't enter a password during the setup phase, it'll be the same afterwards. Even if not for some reason, you can always remove your password for a local account to be back where you were.

I was wondering if there is a way to force Windows 8.1 to use older drivers, for example, force a generic Bluetooth adapter driver to use version 6.2.9200 instead of 6.3.9600. I am just trying to troubleshoot a problem and was curious, and wanted to try if its possible.

Hello, This is my first post here and I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have an Acer Aspire P3-171 ultrabook/tablet with Windows 8.1 on it. I frequently rely on multitasking to effectively get things done. As such, I find myself wanting to run 3 apps simultaneously, which is only supported...
I found that once I upgraded to Windows 8.1 I had to use my Email account to Log In to my PC. The User has to have a Windows Account (Mine is originally Hotmail - Live - Outlook). I can not stand having the same Password and account info from my Email account the same as my PC. I had to...
I am really enjoying Windows 8 so far. It took some getting used to, and I still believe it is more ideally suited for touch-interface, but I still enjoy using it and updating my computer usage habits because of it. That being said, I don't seem to understand the Mail app that comes on the start...
I have a problem here, I installed Windows 8 2 days ago and it was ok except for my VGA Adapter. It seems uncompatible because of it being XPDM. I don't mind the MS one except for the fact that I have to use the 1280 x 1024 which squishes everything downwards on my monitor. If anyone can advice a...
