Local Account - Switch to in Windows 8

    Good luck.
That, for sure, is what happened! When I upgraded from the store, I couldn't find a way to avoid the Microsoft Account.

Your link provided the fix and I will give it a try later.

    Thank you.
Awright! That worked like a charm. Thanks again.

Thanks for the link. Helped me too.
In my case, I upgraded to 8.1 this morning, and when the computer rebooted, all I had was the Microsoft login, and then when I got logged in, neither my firewall or antivirus was working! Talking about making a person mad! After having to format my drive twice and reinstall 8, I swore I was done with that company.
Thanks again for the link. At least my blood pressure is lower now

During installation, you can enter a valid e-mail address and a wrong password. Next, you can click on the error message that appears next to the invalid password, and that is what has allowed me to keep using my local user account right off the bat.

When I first went to win 8, I created what is known as a local account, it does not require log ins at all. What you did was create the other option. Create a new user account, (local account) as admin, and use that, no log in

Hit -Settings/PC Settings/Account and click the text above Account Picture (It will be in the color of your Personalized prefs)

Then just change it to local account

if you don't want to login at all type netplwiz in run cmd and untick "users must enter blah blah........"
enter your password to confirm and your done

This also gets rid of the Skydrive in "My PC" if it bugged you

This is exactly what I did when I upgraded to 8.1. I only used my MS account with Win 8 once and that was with the very first Win 8 Preview. Ever since that first time, I've only used a local account on my Win 8 & 8.1 installs.
