I'm testing the 8.1 Preview. So far I'm really loving the new look & feel. I had tried the 8 preview and wasn't too happy about the lack of start menu, but I have to say that I don't think I gave it a fair shot.
Since there isn't any restriction on how many machines I can have the preview installed on I've put a copy both on a desktop and a laptop machine that I have. One thing I noticed during setup is that I couldn't seem to get around adding in a Microsoft account. I'm not completely opposed to that, but then I realized that one thing that it was doing was syncing data & settings between my two machines. So, when I changed the look of the start/metro screen on one machine, those changes appeared on the other. Same thing with themes, apps installed from the app store, etc. I'd really rather this not be the case.
Can I just disconnect the Microsoft account altogether? If not, is there any way to prevent syncing?
