Solved Want to be able to log in without password

As the title says, I would like to be able to log in to my computer without needing a password every time I start it up. It's my own personal computer, so nobody else would have access to my files but me.

I understand that if you go into the command prompt and enter control userpasswords2, you'll be brought to a screen where you can click a check box that allows you to log in without needing a password. However, after an update, I suddenly had to use the password again, and when I went back to that screen, the check box was simply gone.

Can I please get some help?

Hello The Pope,

Which update was this after?

For now, you might see if doing a system restore using a restore point (if available) dated before this happened may be able to help.

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

I'm sure I've seen similar issues with login settings occurring after previous Updates.

Might be worth just doing an ordinary Restart (eg. Ctrl-Alt-Delete and right-click on the power button that's bottom-right) to see if that puts it back, before trying System Restore.

Well, I found out a temporary fix: in User Control Settings, I clicked something that said "Reset Security Policies", or something along those lines, and it fixed it. I'm not sure if it changed anything else as well, though.

That's ok. I'll have a play with it to see if I can find it. I just wasn't sure exactly where you said it was at. :)

But you won't see that setting unless there is a policy in place that prevents you from changing the login settings.
