hi guys

this is my first wndows 8 problem

the original problem is I can't change the default printer.

so I follow a suggestion that fix user permission in registry.

but after rebooted I was quickly logged out when trying to logon.

the wierd thing is when I tried logon again I realized that the user are now duplicated. worst of all that bot account cannot be logged on.

OK i tried going safe mode and CAN logon, so I create a new user and restart

the new user can logon but still shows multiple account ie:

(Avatar) User :: (smaller avatar) User :: (Avatar) User1 :: (smaller avater) User1

please help. I know that I can easily refresh the windows but I'd rather fix it,

please help

2. Guest: Guest account Off

I should also mention that I cannot do system restore. it says something no restore point and something about online account?

A screenshot of the restore window would help.

Just press print screen key & open Windows Paint & paste it in & save as a .png to Desktop & upload it here. :)

thanks for the reply

I recreate another administrator account coz I need to work on something, just now.

After that when I check again it seems that the system protection are simply disabled from the start. This is actually only a month old Toshiba.

Windows 8 are quite overwhelming since windows 7 so I'm just caught by surprise with this new problem.

I probably did something with the registry that cause this.

But I'm really surprised that very limited information on this issue that I can dig. However there's a suggestion that says some 2nd authentication like fingerprint or face recognition that bundled with the laptop could cause this. I've tried finding something similar on my laptop.

I found Toshiba password manager is bundled with this laptop and uninstall it. But it's still the same. Duplicate account on sign in screen. And the user account sign in got signed out every time.

I can manage the new account and delete the old one but I'm still curious bout the solution and suggestions if available.
