    Deleting an old user's files?

So during setup of my laptop I created a few different accounts and then deleted some, so I now only have the one account left. Below is a picture of the folders I mean. The "joey_000" is the actual one for my account, the other 2 have nothing in them.

I made the other 2 accounts trying to change the name of the folder from "joey_000" to just my name, but it couldnt be done so I just left it. The other two folders are there and when I try to delete them, that error message comes up. I just want to be rid of them because the accounts to which they are linked have been deleted and they serve no purpose and are annoying. If anybody could help that would be appreciated

You could try taking ownership of them.

    See tutorial:

Take Ownership - Add to Context Menu in Windows 8

Or check online for settings that might enable deletion:

    Thanks for the reply.
I took ownership of both those folders and I was still coming up with the error message. Also the checking online for settings button was not there, maybe perhaps because I am on a local account, not a microsoft one?

    Probably so.

Maybe someone else will offer some advice.

    Is it marked read-only?

You can change your account to an administrator account & see if that helps.

I'm the only main account on the laptop and I can run things as administrator; even then the first part doesnt work for me from that link, I type that into the start menu and it yields no results

I bought a second hand laptop with Windows 8 a few months ago. It had an administrator account 'CG', which I just used as was without doing a reinstall of the OS. I then did the upgrade to 8.1 and then changed the name 'CG' to my own - keeping the same account. I also changed the computer name...

I've encountered a strange problem, have been running Windows 7 for a few years, recently decided to move over to Windows 8 but rather than upgrade I've done a fresh install on a new SSD.
