Keep the full name of a local account

    Hi

Using Windows 8 Enterprise 64 bit, I have noticed that the full name of a local account (set with the net users "<username>" /fullname:"<full name>" command) is deleted whenever I switch from a Microsoft account to the local account associated with it. So, how do I have to prevent this?

    Thanks

    Bye

    Hello Balubeto,

Usually whatever name you enter for the user name while switching is the display name you will have for the local account. You might see how it works using the method in the tutorial below instead.

Local Account - Switch to in Windows 8

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    Basically, my problem is this:

I create a local account and then I modify his full name:

    Code:
    C:\Windows\system32> net users "Balubeto_Balubeto" /fullname:"Balubeto Balubeto"
    The command completed successfully.

    C:\Windows\system32> net users "Balubeto_Balubeto"
    Username Balubeto_Balubeto
    Full name Balubeto Balubeto

At this point, I restarted the computer and I log onto this account.

Now, I switch it in a Microsoft account following the procedure Microsoft Account - Switch to in Windows 8 and then I restart the computer.

So, I log onto Microsoft account, and, following the procedure Local Account - Switch to in Windows 8, I switch it back to the local account.

Now, the local account information are:

    Code:
    C:\Windows\system32> net users "Balubeto_Balubeto"
    Username Balubeto_Balubeto

As you can see the field "Full name" is empty. How come?

How do I avoid that this field changes value?

    Thanks

    You can't.

When you switch an account from local to Microsoft, it resets the "full name". You should be able to enter Balubeto Balubeto for the user name when switching to a local account to keep that name without having to use a "full name".

If I may ask, depending on your needs, why not have two separate accounts with one as a local account and the other a Microsoft account instead of switching back and forth?
