Hi Kari,

It must have gotten enabled somehow, perhaps without you realising you've done it. It isn't showing for me, but you can disable it by issuing, in an Elevated Command Prompt, the following:

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/35326-guest-account-turn-off-windows-8-a.html

net user guest /active:no

If that doesn't clear it, you might need to enable it (net user guest /active:yes) before disabling it with the above command.

Guys, I quote the first sentence of my original post:
Guest account disabled, never been enabled, still I have it on user menu.
I have never ever in my life enabled a Guest account on any Windows version, so that is not the issue here. Can't turn off something that has never been on.

I have tried net user guest /active:no, did not work. I would not like to activate it in order to disable it before I have tested all possible ideas.

Did you try my suggestion with the Command Prompt? I've just checked it, and enabling it there causes it to appear in the User Menu, as you have in Post#1. It still says that it is Off in User Accounts.

Yes, I have tried. Checked all our rigs, it's appearing on each and every 8 PC although account is not active and is turned off. Only common nominator seems to be that all rigs have multiple active user accounts, at least 4 on each.

OK, so first activating net user Guest, then disabling it and finally rebooting, it's gone now :).

Thanks Dwarf for the tip.

You're welcome, Kari. :)

Sometimes, a setting gets stuck either in the registry or in some file or other (or even both) and toggling the setting (which is what I suggested and what you have done) seems to clear the issue.
