Solved I incorrectly spelled my Microsoft Account user name

When I installed win 8 ten days ago, I incorrectly spelt my Microsoft Account user name missing the last letter (l) off mail.

I have made 8 attempts to change the account details but the system only allows a change to the administrator password not the user name.
I have followed the advice from the Microsoft Community and the windows live ID site all to no avail.
Currently when I try to log in I get the message “your PC is off line”, please sign in with the last password used on this PC, which I have done 5 times with no change.
Your help in resolving my problem would be gratefully appreciated or I may have repair the OS with the install disk or close my Microsoft account and open a new one.

Hello Malydee, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You could do step 2 in the tutorial below on another computer that you have internet access on to change the email address of your Microsoft account to hopefully get this sorted. The changes will not take affect until you have confirmed the new email address in the confirmation email Microsoft will send. Afterwards, you should be able to sign in using the new address.

How to Change the Email Address of Your "Microsoft Account

Thanks for your response.
My Windows Live ID is the same as my MS Account the password of which was already been changed to use with my email name. I can view my account summary, permissions etc on my desktop PC.
However when I try in the my laptop which has Vista on one partition and Win 8 on the the other partition, select Win8, the dark blue entry screen still shows my wrongly spelt user name and again I have the message which states in pink writing "your PC is offline. Please sign in with the last password used on this PC"

Since your MS account works fine on your desktop, you might see if refreshing Windows 8 at boot on the laptop may help.

If that still doesn't help, then see if you may be able to reset Windows 8, or reinstall Windows 8 if not.
