Can't Finish Account Setup Without Being Online...

...And Can't Get Online Without Finishing Account Setup!

My admin at work configured a new laptop with Windows 8, created a user account on it for me and gave it to me so that I could get it setup with all my stuff over the weekend, ready to go on Monday morning.

When I got it home this evening and went to sign on, it says that I must be online in order to finish setting up my account. But I can't get in to configure it to my home network without being signed in. Of course, the admin is completely unreachable until Monday and, of course, I have to have this thing ready to go Monday morning.

I have my username and password.
How can I get online so I can finish setting up my account and get rolling?

Hopefully my question makes sense. If not, please ask - I'd be glad to clarify.

    Sincerely,
    Hoping I'm Not Hosed

PS: FWIW, the laptop is a new Toshiba Satellite S855-S5378 i7 with 8GB RAM, etc. Don't know that anything else, spec-wise, matters - it's just stock.

Hello Oinkaphone, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You might see if you may be able to use OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to enable the local built-in elevated Administrator account at boot, then sign in to it to configure it for your home network.

Built-in Administrator Account - Enable or Disable in Windows 8

Afterwards, of course, finish setting up your user account.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    Soooo cloooose...

Got booted to Startup Options --> Troubleshoot --> Advanced Options --> Command Prompt --> D'oh!

When it rebooted to Command Prompt, it said "Choose an account to continue" and the only account listed was my unreachable admin's. My account wasn't listed (presumably because I never finished setting it up?)

I had to track back through a few tutorials from the one you shared (Built-in Admin <-- How to Open Prompt at Startup <-- How to Boot to System Recovery <-- How to Boot to Startup Options) so I certainly could've missed something.

Please let me know if that's the case - or if you have any other ideas.
And thanks again for the quick response.
    fingers still crossed...

Do you have a Windows installation disk that you could see if you may be able to use step 2 in the tutorial below to open a command prompt at boot with instead, then follow the rest above to enable the built-in Admin?

It came pre-installed - no boot disc. But I just heard back from my admin (fluke!) and he's gonna have me up and running in the morning. Thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate it.
