Solved Dell software glitch

Hi,
This morning i was looking at the computer (laptop) that i got from Dell for my daughter for xmas. It is a lower end dell, i3 with the basic version of windows 8 on it.

I wanted to ad an administrator account and change her account to a standard user. I was able to create the administrator account, however, i was not prompted to enter a password. Not knowing windows 8 i thought maybe it would fix itself on reboot and in anycase, i switched her account to a standard user.

When i rebooted, i found myself in a bad spot - only 1 admin account and when i tried to go back in, i of course was prompted to enter a password - for which i had never entered.

I called dell, and they promptly explained that this was a known glitch and they would happily apply an insta-fix for the low low price of 79 dollars. I wasn't really happy about this since, i only paid about 450 for the laptop.

How do i fix this?

Thanks!

Wes

as an update - going through the settings, it indicates that there are no administrative accounts. I'm trying the reset PC option - so far it looks like it is working. Fingers crossed.
