I currently do not sign in to Win 8 with a Microsoft account. What are the advantages/disadvantages of signing in with a Microsoft account?

Thanks

EDIT:
Actually to clarify this, I do know what the advantages of signing in with MS account are. So I guess what I am asking here is what are the downsides? Any privacy issues perhaps?

I will say the major problem will be if you use your Hotmail account and you have a non secure password and someone get it and change the password of your Hotmail account, blocking your access to your PC, Tablet and Phone. For sure I will create another regular account with admin rights just in case.

I am not particularly clear on why I would want to sign into an MS account at this time. My impression is that MS is doing it's version of an Apple ID--which is used in accessing a number of online Apple services, the Apple Store, the App Store, etc., etc. Having such a feature is an advantage if one wants to access a number of online Apple things. My MS ID is pretty darn secure as is my Apple ID. I wouldn't want anyone to have either for a variety of more or less obvious reasons--e.g., what area 66 says above.
