So, there is nothing we can do to avoid having to sign-in when switching users? We were able to do so with Vista and Windows 7. That's really disappointing and inconvenient.

Do you have any opinion on the programs available that will simulate a Windows 7 environment? I've seen mention of such a program and was thinking about using one.

By the way, thank you for trying to help me!

It's the same way in Vista and Windows 7 as well for "Switch User". The only time you don't have to enter the password for the user you are switching to is when that user doesn't have a password.

I'm not sure what you mean by a program that will simulate a Windows 7 environment? Do you mean a virtual machine?

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I was referring to programs like Start8 which essentially give you back the Windows 7 style Start button and menu.

    dblum,

I think they are great if you wanted to restore the Start Menu.

Having suffered severe frustration after using netplwiz, where I was left with no password required on start up but required on wake up I can only endorse what Brink is saying.
If you use a laptop or notebook which is set "to sleep when lid is closed", go to power savings and make sure you have unchecked the password required, in wake up field. You may need supervisor access if this is set.
