Windows 8 administrator disaster

I need help. I have recently down loaded Windows 8 to my PC. I previously was running Vista. All was ok until the apps would not work because of the built in Administrator. I had a look on line and disabled the built in administrator. BIG Mistake. I did not have an administrator password set up. I now can not access any of my old files/photos on the computer as they are in the Old Windows file. When I click on to the file it says access is denied. I have tried to change the built in administrator to be enabled again but I get an alert box that asks me to enter the password but it will not let me do this as there is not one! I am now well and truly stumped. When I try to change the user account or download apps it states I must be an administrator but I am now stock in a cycle that I can not fix Any help would be very much appreciated.
Cheers.

You may try a reset windows 8 process. Windows 8 offers an option to resetting windows 8 to its first installed state much like clean install . But I don't know if this solves your problem or adds more. Use at your own risk if you wish .

To do this, go to power off menu and press and hold shift key while clicking on reboot or restart option. A menu appears and select advanced options.
