Perhaps an option 4 showing how to set to Public or Private though the Local Security Policy would fit into this tutorial.

Maybe you have this some place else for this already but it seems like it could be added to the options here. I'd post a picture of this but it won't let me.

Just type secpol.msc into the run box. That will bring up the Local Security policy. Go to Network List Policy's, Then to Network at the top, double click that then click the Network Location tab and click Public or Private etc.

I'm pretty sure that setting the Advanced Sharing Setting for the Private network to turn on Network Discovery, File and Printer Sharing after setting up the new network would have the same effect but I think people are forgetting this step.

    Hello Tony,

If you are using Windows Firewall, then it should automatically be set properly along with the settings made in the tutorial.

When I get the dropdown list in step for the last option is FORGET THIS NETWORK. The remaining 2 are not there (ie: Sharing & View). How do I correct this?
Also, noob question, where exactly do I see & change Public to Home? I'm using KIS 2014 and when I log on it gives brief warning about dangers of Public setting.
    Thanks

Hello Okap, and welcome to Eight Forums.

If you mean the right screenshot under step 4 in OPTION ONE, then it's because OPTION ONE is only there in Windows 8 and not 8.1.
