How could anyone find the folder if they did not know the name of it?

I was just pointing out that was for just setting permissions, and wouldn't have it "Run as administrator" by just double clicking on a file in the folder.

What I was looking at is that anything placed in the Windows directory will "run as administrator"; I tested this with a font installation. The other setting I see is "Authenticated Users" which mimics "Everyone".

Odd. I don't have that happen for me. Setting permissions alone should not allow it to "Run as administrator".

Did you set the account to be elevated by chance?

If you right click on a file, and click on "Run as administrator", are you prompted by UAC for Yes/No approval?

I have "net user administrator /active:yes" set, but that still does not allow "run as administrator" to work without some assistance - did I miss something?

Font install does not allow for a right click and "run as administrator", that is why I created the folder.

If you signed in to the built-in elevated "Administrator" account while doing this, then that would make sense. Everything would "Run as administrator" while signed in to that account.

Why can't I install the font file without logging into the default administrator account or taking other measures?

Not sure. You should be able to install a font file as usual using the method below.

Can't do this with font, it only has a "Security" tab. Something weird just happened; I moved the font from the "Authenticated Users" folder to the desktop and the font will now install without "run as administrator" and it would not before. Checked the security on the desktop and it has not changed. Went got another copy of the font from a folder where it required "run as administrator" and placed it on the desktop and it will install also. Looks like Windows 8 has gone senile.

    Perfect.

I noticed it's best to install from your desktop. Windows likes to protect it's system folders, and could be why it doesn't like installing from them.
