You can add it yourself using bcdedit easily enough.
It just shows up at boot.
Click Enter to get rid of it.

BUT, when you need it, it's there & will save you gnashing of teeth & ashes scattered on your head while you wander into the desert in a poor state of mind.

Yes, I know what it is, and I don't want it. Some people might, nothing wrong with having it as an option.

When it was called Win7 file recovery didn't it restore an image that had been made in win7? Wasn't that the point of it, backward compatibility? Can't remember tbh.

Either way, the system image recovery GUI doesn't do that now.

Did you notice when that changed? They have also added a bunch of hyper v options into wbadmin. It is still labelled wbadmin v1.0, oddly.

The good news is that the new pguru free version can mount vhdx.
Ah, yeah a system image recovery with .vhdx files could only be done with Windows 8.1 installation/recovery media.

Yeah, I think so. To bad it's only for 8.1 system images with .vhdx files now.

I suppose it really doesn't matter if your restoring an 8.1 image. For Window 7, you could use Windows 7 installation/recovery media to restore a Windows 7 image with .vhd.

I want to make a backup image from my windows 8.1 installed in SSD and save it on one of the partition of my HDD but i get the error 0x80780119, have some workaround for it?

I will secure erase the SSD and need to restore it after.

Use Macrium with maximum compression & put the image on a usb drive, if you wish.

When creating an image, do I need to turn anything off such as Avast, in case it causes a problem when creating the image?

Usually, you don't need to. You may with some AV programs when doing a system image recovery though.

I just start the Macrium process & let it run in the background.

It finishes & verifies itself everytime.

Don't run sfc or dism while making the image.
    or defragment or chkdsk.
