On my system there is both miles administrator and miles administratos plural. I have users\miles with full control but it's not inherited. The inherited users\miles with only Read cannot be removed because of some reason. Ugggghhhhhh!!!

I got it to accept Miles Ahead (which is the current user in administrative group) and give full permissions. Still no joy. Libraries just sits there same as always. The attributes value is the b0900xxxx that I set when supposedly I could only read the value. Guess i'll just live with it.
The Administrators (computer-name\Administrators) option is for allowing access to the Administrators group and all users part of the Administrators group.

You're Miles (or my Brink) option would be for only allowing access to that user account instead.

Setting either as the "owner" and having "Full control" would work.

I set Miles Ahead to full control. Both registry keys have the b0900 whatever value to not show libraries. Libraries is still there. Maybe it's a Toshiba thing. But I'm going to quit playing around with it because I might break something. Other than that stuff is working pretty well. I turned off auto arrange windows and now Explorer quits jumping round and freezing when I drag it with the mouse. Isn't it great how computers save us all time? heh heh

I assume that you restarted the PC after setting the Attribute DWORD values of both ShellFolder keys to b090010d ?

I can only guess that you may have made a mistake in there somewhere.

Yay!!! What messed me up was using Regjump to jump to the key. I searched on the CLSID and that did it. Regjump was getting one right but the other wrong. That screwed with the inheritance bit. I just hope Explorer don't get weird on me.

If I couldn't break your tutorial it must be robust(like how it rhymes?)

I set the security and settings for the registry keys in Group Policy Preferences on Windows 8.1 but the libraries didn't show up.

Using RegShot before and after using the 'Show Libraries' tickbox I managed to determine that the following key also needed to be set:

    Code:
    HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{031E4825-7B94-4dc3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}\System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree

    REG_DWORD
    00000001 hex
    Now they show up...

Hello UniMatrix, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Yes, that's correct. Adding Libraries using OPTION FOUR will only have it available to show or don't show in Windows 8.1, but it depends on what you had set in OPTION ONE, OPTION TWO, or OPTION THREE to show or don't show Libraries before it actually does.

I've added step 10 to OPTION FOUR to help. Thank you for pointing this out.

Great! That about covers it now (-:

I'm an admin building desktop deployments since Windows 2000 onwards, use 7 & 8-forums extensively to find out how to configure the stuff MS forgot to supply GPO templates for... (-:

Most of the registry stuff I put in Group Policy Preferences, works like a charm.
