Default File Associations - Restore in Windows 8

    While in 7-ZIP, click on Tools (menu bar) and Options.

    In the System tab, select .cap (if listed) and click on the + buttons at the top until nothing is listed under the "you user name" and "All Users" columns for it, and click on OK like below.

    I'm using the 9.32 alpha version of 7-Zip.

How can I change file type associations in Windows 8? For example .jpg files open in Photos app, fine, but when I right-click and choose "edit" Paint opens up. I want to change it from Paint to Photoshop and there seems to be no way to do that. In Windows 7 I used Creative Elements Power...
It seems to me that windows 8 is fragile as to file extensions and changing default programs. Therefore, I want to save all file associations in the registry and be able to undo any mistakes I could make. Any ideas?
