What's the file extension of the file that opens with Notepad?

Where you able to use "Open with" to select the program you wanted to have open it with?

I've updated the Package.reg in the tutorial, please download and try again to see how if it may help now.

In that case, you could also do a system restore using a restore point (if available) dated before you had this issue with .package files to undo it.

Thanks Shawn, for the XAML file default program restorer. I appreciate your help! Glad it'll work (I hope). I currently am not an administrator on my laptop right now, so I'll have to try it in a few years, or TRY to explain what happened to my parents.

Well, until then, thank you very much!

    Hello There!

Thank you for your work here! Was helpful a lot of tilmes! Very appreciated (Brink)!

One question I have. In our enterprise environment where we will roll out to Windows 8.1 soon, people do not like to see files getting opened with modern-ui (fullscreen) apps. That's why I try to change all Photo and Video file associations back to what was standard in Windows 7 (Photo Preview and Windows Media Player) over GPO. While trying to achieve this I found your registry-files. Now to my question. Is there a way for me to get files like jpg/jpeg/tif etc. opened with the Desktop-App Photo Preview? I see I could maybe merge the reg-files from .ico with the .jpg ending but I am not sure if that would work. Also, could I maybe just use the .reg-files which you earlier created for Windows 7?

Thanks so much for your help!
