How to Enable or Disable App Toast Notifications on Lock Screen in Windows 8 and 8.1

information   Information
Toast notifications in Windows 8 are balloon type notifcations that appear as a themed bar in the upper right corner of your main display to allow a Metro app to communicate with the user whether the user is in another app, on the Start screen, on the desktop, or on the lock screen.

This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable the ability of all or specified users to be able to turn on or off toast notifications on the lock screen in Windows 8, Windows RT, Windows 8.1, and Windows RT 8.1.

You must be signed in as an administrator to be able to do the steps in this tutorial.

Note   Note

  • If you disable toast notifications on the lock screen, applications will not be able to raise toast notifications on the lock screen.
  • If you enable toast notifications on the lock screen, toast notifications on the lock screen can be turned on or off by the administrator or user.
