Since you do not have an Airplane Mode option available, then I'm guessing that you do not have a wireless connection.

Please post a screenshot showing your Network and Sharing Center (in Control Panel) to see what type you have.

For me to be able to further help, please fill in your system specs, and post screenshots showing your Network and Sharing Center (in Control Panel) and PC settings screen from OPTION FOUR in the tutorial.

    username,

You do not have "Airplane Mode" available because this is a desktop PC and not a mobile device such as a laptop, tablet, smart phone, etc... Are you able to turn off your wireless connection when you like via a switch or other setting instead?

It's still odd that you do not have a "Wireless" option in PC settings, when it shows that you have a WiFi connection in Network and Sharing Center.

What brand and model of wireless device are you using on your desktop?

Do you have the latest drivers installed for it?

I am another with this problem. Using pc with windows 8 pro and a Ralink N300 usb WiFi adapterwhich install fine as dev mgr says working with no problems.

If i left click on network icon botton right I can see eternet and WiFi connections. Ipconfig shows adapter as not connected and am unable to connect to router or internet.
    Wireless LAN adapter WiFi 2:

    Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
    Description . . . . . . . . . . . : 802.11n USB Wireless LAN Card #2

    DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
    Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes

Do not have a WiFi icon task bar or wireless in PC Settings. Icons in settings only shows ethernet network.see attachments.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as I have even spoken to MS and they don't have a clue (No further comment on that )

    Thanks in advance

    Hello Keith,

No worries. You just missed attaching your uploaded file in your first post.

You do not have wireless available since you are connected to the network via your ethernet (LAN). As a test, disconnect your LAN cable to see if you have wireless available afterwards.

    Hope this help,
    Shawn

It shows your available wireless connections now, but it also shows that you are not currently connected to one.

Did you ever setup a wireless profile?

You can click on a listed wireless connection to set up a profile with it. If it's not listed (ex: hidden), then you can click on "Hidden network" to set up a profile instead.
