    it just said logs collected.
then showed a link to a zip file in C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\ElevatedDiagnostics\

in the zip file are several files and folders. I looked through some of them and didn't see anything saying whats wrong. There was one xml file that had a ton of info. It was huge though. 138 thousand lines of logging. lol

    wow, i cant believe this.

i just looked through the event logs, starting at a reboot, to see if i had any errors or warnings. Only had one that was android adb driver. Unrelated.

so then i decided to look through the services and see if anything looked wrong. Guess what was disabled? microsoft account sign-in assistant. I set it to manual and started it up. Then tried to switch to local account again and IT WORKED. damn.

    Problem solved.
Thank you very much for your help.

    Great news.

Did you disable the service by mistake at one point?

i think i might have. lol. The only time i was in there to change something was right after i installed windows 8 when it first came out and i wanted to get rid of skydrive. So i think i saw that and disabled it since i dont use any microsoft acct stuff on my pc. I figured it wouldn't do any harm and free up a little resources. lol.

Thanks again for all your help and sorry to waste your time.

I had switched my account from the MS Account to a local account some time ago and then when I wanted to download an app from the windows store I needed to log in with my MS account. Well, needless to say, after that my computer required me to log into my MS account all the time. I am getting ready to install the free window 10 upgrade but wanted to switch my computer back to the local account. I now realized that the Windows MS Account is no longer listed as one of the users for my computer. When we switch to the local account is the MS Account automatically removed or did I perhaps do something incorrectly?

I wanted to have all users show up when turning my computer on so started looking into having that option which is how I came to realize this. I have not yet installed the free windows 10 upgrade so I am still running windows 8.1 (home edition) 64 bit system.

Is there a way to have both accounts on the computer or is it one or the other? Only asking since I realized that if I want to install something from the windows store I need to switch back to the MS account, but don't want to have to keep doing this and the all the steps to switch to a local account all the time. I hope all of that made sense \\

    Thanks So Very Much

    Hello Injr,

If you like, you could keep the account a Microsoft account instead of switching back and forth unless you had some reason to do so.
