How to Pair Windows Phone 8 or 8.1 with another Windows Phone

Bluetooth lets you do a lot of things on your Windows Phone 8—everything from making hands-free calls using Speech to sharing files with other people. Regardless of what you want to do, the first step is the same—pair your phone with the Bluetooth accessory or device.

This tutorial will show you how to pair your Windows Phone 8 or 8.1 with another Windows Phone 8 or 8.1 over Bluetooth.

Note   Note
After the phones are paired, the phones will automatically connect when in range of each other and Bluetooth is turned on for both phones.

Windows Phones - Pair with Bluetooth OPTION ONE Windows Phones - Pair with Bluetooth
To Pair Windows Phone 8 or 8.1 with another Windows Phone

1. On both Windows Phones, open the app list, and tap on Settings. (see screenshot below)

2. On both Windows Phones, tap on Bluetooth in system settings. (see screenshot below)

3. On both Windows Phones, make sure that Bluetooth is turned on. (see screenshot below)

Your phone will search for any discoverable Bluetooth accessories or devices. It will also be discoverable to other Bluetooth accessories or devices near you while you're on this screen.

Make sure your phone stays unlocked during pairing.

4. When both Windows Phones has the other phone listed with tap to pair, tap on the listed phone (ex: Windows Phone) on only one phone and not both. (see screenshot above)

5. Make sure that the PIN number matches the PIN that both Windows Phones displays, and tap on ok on both phones. (see screenshot below)

6. Both phones will now start pairing. (see screenshot below)

7. If successfully paired, both phones will show as paired or connected (when in range). (see screenshots below)

8. When finished, you can return to the Start screen on both phones if you like.






Windows Phones - Pair with Bluetooth OPTION TWO Windows Phones - Pair with Bluetooth
To Delete Paired Windows Phone 8 or 8.1 to Unpair it

1. Open the app list, and tap on Settings. (see screenshot below step 1 in OPTION ONE)

2. Tap on Bluetooth in system settings. (see screenshot below step 2 in OPTION ONE)

3. If the listed paired Windows Phone you want to delete shows as connected, then tap on it to disconnect it and have it show as paired or not connected instead. (see screenshot below)

4. Tap and hold on the Windows Phone that you want to delete showing as paired or not connected, and tap on delete when displayed. (see screenshot below)

5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 on the other paired phone if you like as well.

6. When finished, you can return to your Start screen if you like.
