    Hi Kari,
I followed your instructions and it worked perfectly. I am now wondering how I can move my Program Files folders as well. I would like to change the default installation path to D:\Program Files & D:\Program Files (x86). My current drives are A = Blue Ray Burner, B = 1 3tb Basic HDD for Backup, C = 120g Basic SSD for OS & D = 2 1tb Dynamic Spanned HDD's for data. I will be adding 2 Dynamic Spanned SSD's later for just my games I install which I will manually maintain.

Also another thing I am having a problem with is the 3tb Basic HDD for Backup has was auto partitioned during OS install into 2 partition 1 Healthy Primary 2048gb ntfs and another 746.52 gb unallocated partition that I cannot seem to do anything with at all. When I checked it it said I could not mess with it because it was a RMB Partition.

After I get all this figured out I would like to setup the backup drive to auto backup both my C & D drives and then make a Backup disk from the settings.

Thank You in advance for your help!
    Mike

Hi Mike, welcome to the Eight Forums.

First that partitioning issue, I am unable to assist you in that. Please make a new thread in our Hardware section explaining your issue as well as you can.

About Program Files & Program Files (x86): Officially there is no valid in general and supported in particular method to move them. I know a few unofficial, unsupported methods but as moving them could cause big problems, even paralyze your Windows setup, I will not assist in this subject in any way nor do I tell where to find instructions for that.

For me it's a very strict personal principle not to participate in discussions about methods which may harm either the PC or the OS installed on it.

The problem is related to the Metro apps and I recently saw that and started bothering a little though I am not using a lot of them. One of the apps is HERE Maps [http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/ro...-47eb30304a88] that will not be able to download offline map data saying there isn't enough space left - and of course there is plenty of space on both drives, the other one is a local VOD app SeeNow [http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/ro...-a0365b458bc1] that will not play anything thought it works just fine on Windows Phone 8.1 for example, online on the same PC's or a system where the OS was installed without this gimmick.

Is there any way to make the Metro apps work somehow?

    Thank very much.
Hi Alex, welcome to the Eight Forums.

First of all, I am very sorry. I cannot understand how I have not noticed this post of yours .

I tested the Here maps app, you are right. I am unable to download offline maps. I will try to find a solution for this, at the moment I have to be honest with you and tell I have no idea!

    Hi Kari,

I did all these steps you mentioned a few months ago and it works great!
My issue now is, I want to upgrade my OS to windows 8.1, but windows upgrade show me a message where says it cannot be done, I think is because of I used the sysprep tool.
Can you please explain me how to upgrade my OS now? I'm not an expert and I'm totally lost!
    Thank you

See this: Users Folder - Move Location in Windows 10. The link brings you to the end of this same tutorial at our sister site The Ten Forums, showing what to do when you need to upgrade a system where the Users folder is relocated. You can use the instructions as such in Windows 8 and 8.1.

Hi David, welcome to the Eight Forums.

If I read you correctly you did not have Windows install media available when you sysprepped. Sysprep must have access to it, you must have either the Windows install DVD or USB connected when sysprepping.

That is the most probable cause for the error message. Anyway, let me check the error logs. Please attach the file C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep\Panther\Setupact.log and any LOG file in same folder in your next post here, I'll take a look. See this tutorial if you need help in attaching files: Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Eight Forums.

yes, that is correct....I do have a win8.1 PRO disk that I purchased from Msoft and installed on my main PC but it is not the version that is on the laptop (just 8.1) which was updated from the pre installed 8.0.

Could I use that disk ?

Yes, you can use it. Important is it is for the same version even if the edition is not the same, in this case any Windows 8.1 or Windows 8.1 Pro disk can be used. Notice that also the bit version must be the same, if your Windows 8.1 Pro disk is 64 bit you can only use it on that other computer if it has a 64 bit Windows 8.1.

You can also use the same answer file (xml script), just copy it from the first computer and make the changes in lines 4, 6 and 10 as told in tutorial (bit version, location of Users and Windows version & edition).
