    Thanks.

I have to apologize, seems to be totally my mistake. Of course the registry editing must be done before entering the Audit Mode.

I have now edited the post #419, removed confusing information (removed part strike through and highlighted in quote below):

In other words, edit the registry when in normal mode in Windows desktop, then continue from tutorial step 1.2.

    Kari,

    It worked perfectly! Many thanks.

Now, I hace C: (SSD 128GB), D: (500GB) and na external 500GB HD (well, I have a 4TB also, but it's for my media server only).

Now, what is your suggestion regarding creating a recovery disk and a backup solution for my D:\ ??
Do you have a post/tutorial on that subject?

    Thanks,
    Paulo

    Hi Kari,

There was a side effect after moving the user folder to D:\

IE11 won't download .exe anymore. When I click on the link to download, ie11 displays that dialog at the botton asking whether I want to open/save/cancel. No matter what I choose, nothing happens. The only thing I can do is to click on the x at the corner to close it. I thought it was something I did wrong, but re-installed the whole Windows from the beginning, tested the ie11 and it worked, then I moved the folder and it got broken again.
I noticed something very strange: before moving the folder, the filename in the dialog box was "example.exe"; after moving the folder, it became "example_exe". Could it be related to the registry keys I changed? Returning them to the original status could solve it?
Chrome is downloading normally. But I need IE too.

Can you help me with that?

    Thanks.

No, that has nothing to do with the keys you modified in registry, assuming you only modified those keys told in post #419. See this thread: https://www.eightforums.com/general-s...-renaming.html

The issue is also discussed in these threads:

That means either there's errors in your answer file or other settings. Please zip the answer file you used and post it here. This post at our sister forum The Seven Forums shows how to upload files here.

Seems to be OK, assuming that:

    • You have a 64-bit Windows 8 (Basic edition, not Windows 8 Pro or any edition of 8.1)
    • You are relocating Users folder to D: drive which exists, is formatted and is empty at the moment
    • Your original Windows 8 install media is located on drive E: when you sysprep
    • Your Windows 8 is a clean install, not upgraded from any previous Windows version and your Windows 8 has never been repaired with a repair or upgrade install

Absolutely everything listed above must be exactly so (Windows version and edition, D: drive formatted, present and empty, original Windows 8 install media on drive E:, no in-place upgrade from Vista or Seven to Eight or from 8 to 8.1, no repair installs done).

Does the list match your situation?
