    Audit Mode or sysprep cannot have anything to do with this, it must have another explanation. Let's hope geeks here can help you to fix this issues.

    Kari,

    Just to be sure, in your most recent update to the posted script, to leave out programData we don't have still delete row 7, correct? I assume the updated script you posted has that line already removed now?

    No, the line 7 was that with ProgramData. it is removed from the tutorial. Now the script only needs to be edited for 32/64 bit, location of install.wim and Windows edition.

    Hello. First of all, thanks for the great tutorial.

    Secondly, is there any way to fix the Windows Store issue if you didn't move ProgramData folder?

    So I followed these instructions quite happily, and everything worked.

    Had to put all my user folders back on the C drive to install AutoCAD unfortunately. Poor programming on their part.

    Did that with just regedit, and then put myself back to the D drive once again.

    Noticed I couldn't download new apps from the windows store. Decided it was too much of a nuisance to deal with all this changed user profile location stuff.

    So I followed these instructions to get back to the C drive instead of the D drive. I couldn't save over my original XML for some reason, so I saved the new XML to redirect to C on the D drive that I was moving off of.

    So I had the USB drive connected with the Windows 8 image, my HDD had the XML file, and my SSD was supposed to regain the user folder.

    Ran the sysprep command, and when the computer rebooted, it appears my SSD and HDD are now disconnected.

    By that I mean that when I try to start up I get an error popup titled "Install Windows" which reads:
    "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."

    So I made a USB boot drive and tried to refresh, was informed that the drive was locked so I couldn't do that. I went to the Command Prompt and eventually ran Diskpart, when I had it list out the volumes, only my two USB drives were displayed. No volume label for the SSD or HDD.

    This is on a laptop, which I would really rather not open up to physically disconnect/reconnect the drives. Especially since it is all of 4 days old.

    Any ideas on what I can try before I contact the manufacturer and admit to messing around with the new laptop a BIT too much?

    Hi 2FacedDevil & Xienwolf, welcome to the Eight Forums.

    @2FacedDevil:

    When correctly done there should be no issues with Store. Could you please give more information about your issue.

    @Xienwolf:

    You messed up your system when reversing the changes using registry. Only way not to mess up with system is to use sysprep and answer file to move Users back to its original default location.

    As far as I know, you have exactly three options now:
    • Restore the system using a system image made before installing AutoCAD
    • Restore the system using a restore point made before installing AutoCAD
    • Reinstall Windows 8

    I was afraid that was the case.

    I cannot restore from image right now because the system doesn't see the drives at all, so cannot see the restore files.

    I hope re-install works. All I have for Windows is the image I downloaded from a link and generic serial somewhere in this thread. I have a laptop that was pre-installed, whose serial gave me a "not valid for retail version" when trying to download the image through Microsoft's tool.

    I am personally very strongly against any form of piracy. Using a general product key is software piracy. Also the Eight Forums and its sister forums do not accept any posting about piracy.

    This thread does not contain any Windows product keys. If one has slipped through my eyes, or not caught by our mods and admins, it will be removed when found.

    If you have issues in using a valid product key, you can post here: Installation & Setup - Windows 8 Forums

    Found what it was that I had downloaded. The Enterprise Edition preview copy from your post here.

    Have a pretty terrible memory so not sure where I had the idea of the general key precisely, lots of my looking for an ISO ran afoul of the now expired preview period for windows 8, probably had been something from those pages.

    But regardless of not having install files for Windows, I still have the issue of my drives being completely invisible to my computer to sort out. Seems BIOS related from most of what I have found so far on internet searches, but remains unfixable. I can see the drives in the BIOS, but once I use a boot USB to get to a command prompt in recovery mode, diskpart shows only the USB when I list volumes.

    I can't install any Metro apps (error code 0x80070005), nor open them.

    I did exactly what the tutorial told me to, I believe I did everything correctly.
