    Thank you so much Brink...

I registered on this forum just to let you know after several days of searching through futile solutions: this one worked.

I had to go through each and every step you outlined but this is the only fix out of many attempted that was a success.

Hello Karl, and welcome to Eight Forums.

I'm glad to hear this was able to help you.

Usually issues with PC settings happen when it's shortcut has been deleted from the Start Menu\Programs folder (step 2).

PC Settings app was not opening here, but the code typed in elevated command prompted worked. The same was happening with Windows Store, so I entered a similar command as instructed by the "How to Re-register the Store in Windows 8 and 8.1" tutorial, and it also fixed that issue. Thanks a lot, what would I do without these wonderful tutorials?

    Hello Nabilalk,

Since the missing C:\Windows\ImmersiveControlPanel\AppxManifest.xml file is a system file, see if running a sfc /scannow command may allow you to do this afterwards.

Tried that yesterday with no luck. I would run a system refresh, but the problem is, the laptop screen is broken, and won't show up on an external monitor if I boot into Windows Repair.
