You should be able to use Windows ISO mount feature to do so.

If the ISO is for the same edition, it should reconize and use the embedded key.

Thanks Shawn. Let me scout for an 8.1 .iso.

From Option One below would be the best place to get the ISO.

Does that give me a 32bit option ? And I wonder how big that is because my C partition is only 20GB.

Yep, you have the choice to download either a 32-bit and 64-bit ISO.

Ooof, 20 GB is just about the very bare minimum.

I just installed it in VMware Player. It came out to be a bit under 8GB. That should be OK.

But in VMware Player it did ask for a product key which I skipped. You think when I skip that on the little PC it will pick up the key from the BIOS. Or should I put the 25 character key that I found with Belarc Advisor.

It should detect the key when installed on the PC itself.

Update: I got some time off and tried the installation - no cigar. It insisted on the product key and my 25 digit key from Belarc did not work. This is really strange because the same .iso let me skip the key in Vmware Player (and it works perfectly).

I tried the 32bit .iso and the 32bit single language .iso form Option 1 here. Looks like I am stuck again.
