I got a problem. RECIMG is not supported by my new little toy. What now.

Yeah right, it was very cheap ($99). When I put RECIMG into cmd, it says that it is not a supported function. And since I can still not boot from USB, I cannot make any images anywhere - at least I would not be able to recover from them.

What does it give you with the command below in an elevated command prompt?

    recimg /?

Same thing - not supported. I already tried all tricks.

They must have cut a lot of function out of this 8.1 to fit it into appr. 7GB. This eMMC has only 32GBs and the C partition is 20GB. The rest is recovery partition and EFI.

They must have. I think I'd do a clean install with a retail copy from within Windows to get the features back.

Good idea, but how if you can only boot from C and no external device.

You should be able to mount the 8.1 ISO file inside Windows, then run the setup.exe file inside the sources folder to do so.

I may try that. Maybe with a virtual CDrom. Do you think it will recognize my key in the BIOS.
