How to Create a "Facebook" App Shortcut in Windows 8.1

    information   Information
The Facebook app for Windows 8.1 is now available to download in the Windows Store. With Facebook for Windows 8.1, you get direct access to your Facebook News Feed right from your Start screen where you can stay connected with your friends and family.

Facebook for Windows 8.1 will feel familiar because it uses the same layout and visual look and feel you see on Facebook.com - making it super easy to use. You will see new friend requests, messages, and notifications at your top right. Your News Feed is there as you would expect it to be. You can compose a new post, add photos or check in. You can switch between your different feeds (e.g. Group, Photos, Following, Family, etc.) so you see all the news and updates you want to see.

This tutorial will show you how to create or download a "Facebook" modern app shortcut that you can use or pin where you like in Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1.

    Hello Rose,

I'm afraid not since Windows 7 doesn't support modern apps from the Store.

If you like, you could use OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to create a website shortcut that opens your Facebook page in any browser you want.

Did you create the shortcut with a location like below? If so, you should have an option to "Pin to taskbar" when you right click on the shortcut.

    Code:
    "%ProgramFiles%\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" www.facebook.com

If you like, here's a downloadable Facebook .ico file below.

You should be able to save the Facebook.ico file to where you want to keep it saved at. Afterwards, browse to and select the Facebook.ico file when you change the icon of the shortcut.
