    Great news so far Yanaro.

Do you have any issues signing into your Microsoft account online? If not, then you might see if switching your account in Windows back to a Microsoft account (if you like) may toggle it to work properly again. Afterwards, change netplwiz again to make sure that the correct password is used for the Microsoft account.

any chance we can get a pair of registry files to enable and disable this? Id like to be able to turn it on/off with a click on several PC's. I save registry tweaks such as the aforementioned. (soon its going to be time to learn how to make them myself lol)

Much of the tweaks here have them included with the manual way however this seems to be missing them so this may be a good opportunity to sticky em to the top too imo!

    ty!

Today (10/22/14) I received an email from someone asking if I had any input for klepp096 post #101. Sorry, no. I got help to my question from Brink back around 7/21/14 and it worked! Thanks again Brink. I am surprised that I was contacted via email to offer comments. My ATT email has not been user friendly lately.

Note also that if you connect though RDP, have automatic log in set on for your MS account and change it to a local account you can't sign in. RDP prompts for your user and password but doesn't accept the new one on the Windows log-in screen. You need to sign in directly (not through RDP) and turn off automatic log on for the user, and turn it back on to enter the new password.

Hello guys, hope you can help me with my problem as I am getting quite fed up with windows acting weird...

So my problem is that I had the "skip login screen" working by following this tutorial and it worked for I'd say 1-2 years but then suddenly one day in January suddenly windows started asking for my password! I didn't change any settings or anything in the register that had anything to do with it..

So the day it happened I just thought to myself "well hey guess i just gotta open netplwiz" right? Well here's what i found:
    http://oi59.tinypic.com/64ja6g.jpg

The "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer." option had gone missing.. So here's what I have tried and discovered but with no luck:

If i change the regedit String Value "AutoAdminLogon" to 1 which is in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer." option will appear in netplwiz but when i restart the computer i am prompted for a password and the "AutoAdminLogon" have gone back to 0

So to counter that happening I changed the permissions for the Winlogon key (the one which holds the string value AutoAdminLogon) so that SYSTEM is denied full control I can restart my computer and the AutoAdminLogon string value is still 1 and netplwiz still has the option which is still unchecked BUT I still have to put in my password to login...

Hope you guys can help as I think the next step is to format my computer

Hello rooooof, and welcome to Eight Forums.

As a test, repeat step 4 in Option One to have to enter your password again in netplwiz to see if that may help. In your second screenshot, be sure to select the top user account that has both "HomeUsers; Administrators" under the Group column.

    Hi there

It seems that dont do the job When i check the option and press ok nothing happens and once i reboot i need to use a password. Another thing that is odd is that it sets AutoAdminLogon to 0 once i check the option and that makes the option disappear once again :/ quite an odd issue it seems.
