    Hello Marc, and welcome to Eight Forums.

    There have been some pretty heavy system updates lately, and they most likely reset this back to default settings. Did reapplying the tutorial get rid of them again?

    The downloaded .reg's don't seem to work anymore after the lastest Windows Updates for Win 8.1 64bit.
    I manually went in regedit to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\

    and deleted

    Desktop Folder {B4BFCC3A-DB2C-424C-B029-7FE99A87C641}
    Documents Folder {A8CDFF1C-4878-43be-B5FD-F8091C1C60D0}
    Downloads Folder {374DE290-123F-4565-9164-39C4925E467B}
    Music Folder {1CF1260C-4DD0-4ebb-811F-33C572699FDE}
    Pictures Folder {3ADD1653-EB32-4cb0-BBD7-DFA0ABB5ACCA}
    Videos Folder {A0953C92-50DC-43bf-BE83-3742FED03C9C}

    and can confirm that this works permanently

    Hello Zeggie, and welcome to Eight Forums.

    This still works in Windows 8.1 Update.

    Did you use the .reg files from OPTION TWO, and not from OPTION ONE? It sounds like may have you used Option One by mistake.

    The .reg files from OPTION TWO delete those registry keys at the same locations and the same at the Wow6432Node locations.

    Option Two and Option One delete the same thing, but Option One doesn't include the Wow6432Node locations since it's for 32-bit Windows, and Option Two does include the Wow6432Node locations since it's for 64-bit Windows.

    When you merged the 64-bit_Remove_All_Folders_in_This_PC.reg file from step 3 in Option Two, did it successfully delete the registry keys?

    Option One:
    Code:

    I've actually had this issue for months now. Just about every time I can remember after an update, the folders came back. Deleting the keys again works, but it's not really a permanent solution since there are updates each month. The permissions fix should work as a permanent solution though.

    Hopefully, those will be the last major updates for a bit until Update 2 comes out.

    Now I'm wondering if the updates will work properly with only read access to those keys. Damn it Microsoft; I hope Update 2 adds an option to disable these folders properly.

    If not, you can always change the permissions.

    Add or Remove Folders

    Hey Shawn!

    This is not a set-it-and-forget-it setting. The pesky folders keep re-appearing after certain Windows Updates. I'm not sure which ones they are, because it doesn't happen with every update. This time, I'm saving the reg entry so it will be handy the next time that this happens. And I'm sure that it will happen again. The fix is quick so it really isn't a problem.

    ~Obviously, I didn't read all 108 prior posts before posting this.
