I ran the scanhealth it came back with problem but said it could be repaired then I ran repairhealth and it said it was repaired and no more messages in event viewer.
I'm glad it could Laurie, and welcome to Eight Forums.

One of the best tutorials here. I thought I knew quite a bit until I came here. DISM is amazing.

Feel kind of ignorant compared to many of the people who help here.

I really appreciate this site and this particular thread. The last 2 days, I couldn't get SFC Scandisk or DISM Scan to fix corruption - even tho I followed the directions completely. After System Restoring Windows and Restoring a backup I had saved, still no success. I am posting to let others know what finally succeeded for me. I used the Woindows 8 Action Center Troubleshooter. By troubleshooting Windows Update, the exact error I had been receiving in DISM was fixed and SFC Scannow disclosed no corruption. If anyone is at his or her wits end, you might want to give this a try. Needless to say, I haven't really paid much attention to this built-in tool, but I will in the future.

Update: It didn't fix DISM even tho it indicated DISM error had been fixed. I have posted situation in another post on 02/05/2014 (Post #77)

    Hi, All -

I have used the 'sfc /scannow' and 'dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth' on a new laptop that was having issues, but I've never used it on a 'mature' computer with lots of programs installed and lots of data. Is it safe to run these commands and preserve the installed programs/files?

    Thanks,

    Sandy

When I run DISM Scan, it indicates "The component store is repairable". Yet when I run DISM Restore Health, it can't repair and I get error 0x800f081f. I have searched and searched for an answer, but I am not technical enough to understand what my problem might be. SFC Scannow runs fine and no problems are found - likewise with DSKCHK. I am not presently having any problems that I am aware of - but this thing with DISM bothers me. Is there a site I can go to have my CBS and DISM Logs reviewed, to possibly find out what is going on?

crosspatch - I feel the way you do about this, but so far I find no answers. were you ever able to resolve this and get DISM Scan working properly again?

    Hello John,

Usually if DISM fails, you'll need to either refresh, reset, or reinstall Window.

Since you are not having any problems, then there's really no need to do so unless you just really wanted to.
