Thank Goodness that worked. I make a complete and new backup every month and I have a few that are always available. So I just thought I would give that a shot first and worst case scenario none of the backups resolved the issue and I would end up having to do the refresh. I knew making those backups every month just might come in handy at some point in time

excuse me i have a problem i have tried sfc /scannow and it said that some of my files weren't fixed so i tried dism /online /cleanup image /restorehealth then it said that repair is a success then i restarted my laptop (i'm using windows 8.1 by the way) then tried sfc /scannow again too see if it works and it says the same thing that not all files have been repaired although dism command said all repairs have been successful... what do i do now?

thanks Brink it's ok now it just took a few more tries of repeating the process sfc /sannow and dism command before it said that no integrity violation was found. it means that all error and files have been fixed now right? in that case thanks.

    Great news.

Yep, if SFC cannot find any issues, then all is good now.

I've run SFC /scannow and DISM with the option to RestoreHealth from the Online source. The DISM has been hung on about 40% (I'm using the Powershell) for hours now. Is there a way to safely exit out of it? If so, what other options are available to me to repair the issues that SFC found?

    Hello SpadesSlick,

If you still have hard drive activity from the DISM command running, then it would be best to let it sit until finished.

Otherwise, you can close PowerShell, restart the computer, and try again.

    Hello Brink!
Thank you for this awesome tutorial!

I have a a general question about dism, pictures should explain better what I mean:

    get help:

    now use it:

Size: 7.5 KB

This is just an example, half of the commands present by help do not work, and some commands which I'm aware of are not present in help but do work.
    What am I missing?
