    Hi Brink,

I downloaded it some time ago as 8.1 Pro, around the time I upgraded from Win 8 Pro, and I believed it was x64. How can I confirm it is x64, and Pro?

For what you currently have installed: System Type - 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) Windows 8

For the ISO file, the 64-bit would be around 3.63 GB in size, while the 32-bit would only be around 2.34 GB.

    How weird, mine is 3.06GB!!!!!!

Also, I am using a local account and not a Microsoft account, would that make a difference?

    Hi Shawn,
I want to do the repair install as I have exhausted everything else I can think of doing in trying to install the 8.1.1 update.

The problem is I have OEM 8.1 with the key in the BIOS. Also I only have the Recovery USB I made when I first got the Laptop.

Is it possible to do the repair install with these two items ?

If not, what other options do I have left, if any ?

No, but you could refresh or reset Windows with the recovery USB.

OK then, I did not think it was possible, but worth asking just to be sure.
    Thank's for your quick response.

    Hi.
Thank you for this, it fixed some issues I was having.
However, it did break a lot of my programs! I am finding that Malware Bytes Anti-Malware's (which runs on startup) tray icon cannot be right clicked (I get a blank context menu, maybe 40x15px wide). Other programs like Microsoft Office Word or Powerpoint just pop up an error saying "Microsoft XXXXX has stopped working"
Do you have any solution for this?
    Thank you.

    Hello Albatross,

I'm not sure why the programs broke unless the drive letter of where they were installed was changed.

I would recommend to reinstall the programs.

Tried to perform this repair today. When I got to the screen to select what I wanted to save, the only option was NOTHING. Tried it twice. Any advice? Thanks!

    Hello buffaloguy,

Is the installation media you used for the exact same language, edition, and version of the Windows you currently have installed?
