Oh yes, and I deleted my windows 8 vhd cause it's kinda screwed up alr. I have a backup of the vhd which I just copied out to my ext hdd. I copied it back to my d drive and created a boot entry on it. But when it boot up. It comes up with a bsod saying unaccessible boot device.

Eh, it depends on your system's horse power. If it's good, a virtual machine will not be bad.

You may need to use the method below instead to get the VHD to boot again.

Are there any problems when using a UEFI/GPT system like my new Lenovo K450?

I'd like to create a Win 7 Pro VHD to boot along side my Win 8 Pro.

Just wondering what, if any, problems might pop up?

    Hey Rich,

I have not tested it with UEFI, but as long as you used a UEFI installation USB to set up the VHD with, it should.

I'll have to redo my Win 7 install USB as it is not UEFI aware. The one I now have has all versions of Windows 7, 32 and 64 bit installable from the one USB flash drive.

I'll give it a try once I have that.

    Thanks Shawn.

    Hello Shawn,

Can I use VHD as bootable media instead of using thumb drive? I wanted to install windows or flash firmware from it.

    Thank you.

    Hello Partogi,

The only problem with that is that the VHD would be detached on a restart or shutdown.

I wouldn't even try to flash firmware with a VHD. It would be best to use the device manufacturer's recommended method to avoid turning the device into a brick.
