Oh and to top it all off now my C partition with Windows seems screwed! 0xc000021a error when booting, can't browse it when slaved off another machine. Fun

To follow up, after having the drive slaved and running some more checks with the repair utility, on putting the drive back into my laptop, Windows (on the C partition) then started to BSOD on boot. Tried various repairs and then have to give in......accepted data loss on the full drive and have started again. Really need to contact Crucial to understand if I can get a refund on this drive. Thanks again for all the help here. To any one else visiting these pages/posts suffering from Bitlocker issues - good luck

Thank you 123 for posting back with your results. I'm sorry that you had to start fresh and lose everything though.

Recovery tool is on 1% decryption from 5 hours.

    Hello,

As per your steps, i put my External hard drive to recover data and then its just at 1% from 5 hours.

I am also not able to use both hard drive which are in process. One which have encrypted data and other in which i put it to recover.

Let me know what i suppose to do now. Should i wait for more hours or do i turn off it. I cannot wait 2 days on 1% mostly.

Hello Rcreators, and welcome to Eight Forums.

It's best to wait until finished. If you interrupt the process, it will of course fail, and you risk permanently corrupting the data.

It sounds like the drive may be in bad shape then, and may need replacing.

If you have a backup of the drive that you can restore to another drive, it may be best to format the bad drive, and test the health of it afterwards with something like SeaTools.

    Hello Brink,

Right now hard disk still in decryption 3%. Don't want to mess with it as it's my friend's hard drive which have his mother's all photos who passed away. And he is too dump that he was not aware of bitlock and using it while he don't have any backup of data. So hoping whether it take 3 - 4 days, at least it give some good news on it.

Hard drive is never formatted. So just like to know, is there any way if this process goes bad and still he get those data. He has no issue on spending money to get his mother's photos. Hard Drive is segat or WD 1TB USB Portable drive 6 - 8 month old. Its till in replacement but they don't going to give him backup. So trying to get things for him.

It will be great help if you can give some more guidance on it.

If it fails to decrypt the drive, then the data on it may be a loss since BitLocker is designed to prevent access without the password or recovery key.

I only fear that if the drive is bad or failing, it may die before decrypting has finished. Hopefully it's only bad sectors slowing it down.
