In step 9 I don't get any repair options for "Display adapter drivers might be out-of-date" like your screenshot, but I doubt that is the answer anyway, as I suddenly got bottom-right-x's at the bottom right of most of my apps, none of which will open, including all my Windows apps. Since most of the discussion is indecipherable for me, I will try rearranging the electricity once again, find a better recovery point & all that.

Hello Grrr, and welcome to Eight Forums.

No worries. At step 9, the options you get will vary depending on what the troubleshooter finds.

If you have not already, you might go through these additional troubleshooting steps below to see if they may help.

Thanks, Shawn. FYI, the problem was diagnosed, but there were no suggestions listed below it. ??? Problem solved itself later while I was talking with a Windows tech--all but one of the x's removed itself, and we uninstalled the last one and re-installed it. Had to have been a Windows glitch. TY

    Hi Brink,

I just bought a dell laptop with the Windows 8 pre-installed. Everything works fine except for the windows store. My account is set as the Administrator (microsoft account), and there are no other user accounts. I tried some of the steps you've mentioned here and on other tutorials but none of it seems to work. I installed the default UAC.reg file and did the store troubleshooter, restarted the laptop and tried again but the error 0x80240031 shows up. Before this, I'm not recognized me as the Administrator so I can't download the 8.1 single language update though it's available on the windows store (when i tried the troubleshooter, there's no option to "run as administrator" but I proceeded with the repair). I can't install any app as well due to error 0x8020002e. I have stable internet connection so I can't really figure this out. My windows 8 is licensed and all so i really hope you can help me. Thanks!
