    Here's How:

    1. Do step 2 and/or 3 below for where you want the Charms bar to open at.

    2. For a "Charms on Desktop" Shortcut
NOTE: This shortcut will open the Charms bar on the desktop no matter where the shortcut is used at.

    A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the .zip file below, and go to step 4 below.

    Charms_on_Desktop_Shortcut.zip

    download

    3. For a "Charms on Start" Shortcut
NOTE: This shortcut will open the Charms bar on the Start screen no matter where the shortcut is used at.

    A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the .zip file below, and go to step 4 below.

    Charms_on_Start_Shortcut.zip

    download

    4. Save the .zip file to your desktop.

    5. Open the .zip file, and extract (drag and drop) the .exe file to your desktop.
NOTE: This is a standalone .exe file that has a digital signature and does not install or add anything to your computer.

    6. You can now move the .exe file to where you like to use it at, then Pin to Taskbar on desktop, Pin to Start screen, add to Quick Launch, or create a shortcut from the .exe file.

    That's it,
    Shawn

Sorry, I'm sure the answer I need is somewhere in your information above. I'm one of those old gessers and don't recognize which option to use. Bluntly, this is driving me crazy. When I open, upper right search, that windows charm icon is between the share and devices icon, kind of a gold color. It used to me on the task bar. With that charm icon is on the side bar it will only open APPS when I'm trying to search, for instance devices within my desktop PC. How do I get it out of the side bar and back to the task bar where it used to be.

    Hello Basci,

If you mean to have a Seach icon on your taskbar, then you could download and "Pin to taskbar" any of the search shortcuts below if you like.

Close, however, that charm thing is still on the side bar and I want to get it off of that and onto the taskbar. Appreciate the reply

The Search charm is on the Charms bar by default. Other than adding a Search shortcut to your taskbar, I'm not sure it's possible.

Please give more details if this is not what you meant.
